I love photographing weddings.
No two weddings are the same. Sure, I end up covering the same venues, similar themes; they may follow the same schedule, the same protocol, similar dresses, flowers, suits and food. But it's the people that make every wedding unique. The way people prepare themselves for the day. How they act during the ceremony. How responsive they are to the camera. The hilarious, emotional and cringeworthy speeches. The comedy drunks.
At every wedding I have to be a photojournalist, a portrait, landscape, architecture, fashion and interior photographer. It's about capturing the moment, that one moment that could be gone in an instant. That one moment that can sum up that couples entire day or entire relationship. That one moment that a couple will look back on and recall exactly what was happening, exactly what was being said, exactly what they were thinking and exactly how they felt at that time. Capturing the couple's closest family and friends sharing their special day, the fun, the laughs and the tears. The proud fathers giving their daughters away. The mothers fussing and making sure everything is how it should be. The reaction as the bride is unveiled at the end of the aisle. That first kiss. The best man’s speech. The first dance. I love it all!
When I was getting married myself I met lots of photographers who were technically skilled, but not at all... well I’ll say 'people people'. Arrogant photographers who seemed to consider themselves more important than the couples they were working for. Photographers who take the same shots at every wedding they cover. Photographers who have developed a style and a way of working and can't or won’t adapt. I'm not like that at all.
I'm based in Manchester and have worked all over the North West and beyond. I work in a way that provides as little intrusion on the day as I can. I like to be an observer, capturing events as they happen through my lens. Group shots, formals and portrait sessions can last as short or long as you want them to. Have a look through my wedding gallery and check out my blog to get a proper flavour of how I work. Better still, contact me and I’ll bring my work to you to see up close. We’ll talk about your wedding and what you’re looking for. No obligations, no pushy sales.
I hope to meet you soon!
